Management measures
The management approach for 2020 includes:
- Season dates established by Lobster Fishing Area (LFA)
- A minimum possession size (48mm in diameter)
- Mandatory logbooks
- Issuance of new temporary licences*
*In order to increase participation in this fishery, an additional 33 temporary licences have been issued in areas that had less than 5 licences. In areas where the number of eligible applicants exceeded the number of available permits, harvesters were selected through a temporary licence draw.
The Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) for the Newfoundland and Labrador Region’s Sea urchin fishery can be found on our Website.
