Identify a species in the Atlantic
The Canadian Shark Research Laboratory has prepared a poster showing the Atlantic shark species; this 8.5" x 11" poster is free to download (as a .pdf file) and print for personal use.
The following is a list of sharks that have been found in Atlantic Canadian waters. To find out more about any of these sharks just click on the name.
Rarely, some other shark species have been reported off the eastern coast of Canada. A list of those species would include the whale shark, longfin mako, sandbar shark, silky shark, Icelandic catshark, ghost catshark, false catshark, smalleye catshark, broadgill catshark, sixgill shark, kitefin shark, chain dogfish, and the spined pygmy shark.
