3Pn4RS Cod Management Approach for 2026-27 to 2028-29

Single or multi-year planning
This is a three-year decision applicable to the 2026-27, 2027-28, and 2028-29 management periods. The annual management cycle is from May 15 to May 14.
Management measures
The management approach for 3Pn4RS cod includes no directed commercial fishing for this stock. Cod bycatch in other commercial fisheries will continue to be authorized (within established limits) as well as recreational and food, social, and ceremonial (FSC) fishing activities.
In accordance with the objectives set out in the current 3Pn4RS Atlantic Cod Rebuilding Plan, the department will ensure that bycatches of 3Pn4RS cod in other commercial fisheries are kept to the lowest possible level. The department will monitor fishing activities and may close specific fisheries if cod bycatch exceeds established limits.
