2018-2019 Scotian Shelf Shrimp (Maritimes Region) - Shrimp Fishing Areas 13, 14, 15 & 16

The Maritimes Region Shrimp fishery occurs in Shrimp Fishing Areas (SFA) 13, 14, 15 & 16, located from Cape North, Cape Breton to the Bay of Fundy as defined within the Atlantic Fishery Regulations, 1985 (Schedule XVII).

Species

Northern Shrimp (Pandalus borealis)

Dates of season (subject to change)

Shrimp fishing in SFA 13, 14, 15 & 16 is open year round, from April 1st – March 31st

Total Allowable Catches

The 2018 TAC for Shrimp Fishing Areas 13-15 is 2,600t. The TAC is allocated in accordance with the established fleet shares:

Mobile Fleet: 2,392t (92% of TAC)

Trap Fleet: 208t (8% of TAC)

Shrimp Fishing Area 16 is a competitive fishery with no TAC.

Management Measures

The Scotian Shelf Shrimp fisheries are managed under the Scotian Shelf Shrimp (Pandalusborealis) Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP).
