Landings

The statistics found on this page provide an overview of Canadian fresh and seawater fisheries. The data is generated by regional DFO offices and provincial and territorial governments and is processed, standardized, and aggregated by the statistical unit at national headquarters. The information contained on this page is updated frequently and as such, users should contact infostat.XNCR@dfo-mpo.gc.ca. for further information and detailed questions related to its use.

Freshwater fisheries

• Format: Data tables provide the volume and value of freshwater fisheries landings. Information is presented by species, and by province and territory, where available.
• Period covered: Statistics are available from 1990 to 2021.
• Sources: Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) regional offices, provincial governments and the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation.

Seafisheries

• Format: Interactive dashboard provides the volume and value of seafisheries landings. Filters for geography, species group, species, and year can be used to change visuals based on a user’s needs.
• Period covered: Data is available from 1990 onwards. Additional years of data will be added once available.
• Sources: Data collected by DFO regional offices
