Proceedings of a Workshop on the Canadian Aquatic Invasive Species Rapid Response Framework; June 9-10, 2009

Chairperson: B. Cudmore
Editors: A. Locke, M.A. Frey, T.W. Therriault, and N.E. Mandrak

Summary

“Rapid response” is the capacity to quickly respond to, and make management decisions following, the discovery of a suspected non-indigenous species.  Rapid response is an integral component of “A Canadian Action Plan to Address the Threat of Aquatic Invasive Species” (Canadian Council of Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministers Aquatic Invasive Species Task Group, 2004).  A draft Canadian Aquatic Invasive Species Rapid Response Framework was developed by Science staff of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and peer-reviewed at a workshop held in Richmond, BC, in June 2009.  This document comprises the Proceedings of that workshop.
