Training with coastal First Nations in British Columbia

Through the Oceans Protection Plan, the Canadian Coast Guard is helping Indigenous peoples to respond to marine emergencies in their communities. In the last year, we’ve provided marine safety training to 25 members from 17 First Nations in British Columbia.

Through the Ocean’s Protection Plan, the Coast Guard is working with coastal First Nations in BC to build on their important role in marine safety.

They are bringing new skills and knowledge back to their communities to improve marine safety in local waters—another way we’re partnering with First Nations to make our waters and coasts safer, cleaner and healthier.
