Sylvie LapointeAssistant Deputy Minister, Fisheries and Harbour Management

Sylvie Lapointe began her Public Service career in 1997, holding various positions at Statistics Canada until 2000, when she joined Fisheries and Oceans Canada. Since that time, she has held several positions of increasing responsibility as Head of International Relations, Director of International Fisheries Management in 2007, A/Associate Director General of International Affairs from 2011 to 2013, after which she became Director of Fisheries Management Plans and then Director General of Fisheries Resource Management in 2016.

As Director General of Fisheries Resource Management, she was responsible for the domestic resource management of Canadian fisheries on all three coasts, and for advancing Canadian interests in international fisheries fora. During her career, Sylvie has chaired various groups within regional fisheries management organizations.

Sylvie was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Harbour Management in 2017.
