State of the Pacific Ocean

Canada’s Pacific marine ecosystems comprises 450,000 square kilometres of ocean, approximately 6,500 islands and 37,000 kilometres of rugged British Columbia shoreline. Each year, Fisheries and Oceans Canada oceanographers and biologists review the state of the ecosystems in this ocean region and publish their scientific observations. The Department has also created a video to show the public what the ocean monitoring program on the west coast looks like, in action.
