Apply to the Fisheries and Aquaculture Clean Technology Adoption Program: 4. How to apply

4. How to apply

This program provides the option of taking a 2-step approach to apply for funding.

You may choose to skip step 1 if you decide your proposal is strong and will meet the eligibility criteria. However, if you’re unsure, you should complete it.

Step 1: Expression of interest process

The expression of interest process allows you to work with your regional program coordinator to:

  • discuss your project proposal
  • ask questions about the program

Contact your regional program coordinator by email to either get answers to any questions you may have or to submit the completed application form.

This process should be used if you’re unsure if the project proposal will meet the program eligibility requirements. It’ll allow the program to assess if you should proceed with the full project proposal process. To do so, complete and submit only the application form.

Once your application form has been received and processed, the regional program coordinator will provide you with a project number. We may also contact you for clarification or further information as necessary.

You’ll be notified and may proceed with step 2 if the expression of interest process finds your proposed project eligible for funding.

A positive result from the expression of interest process does not guarantee that funding will be approved under the complete project proposal submission process.

Step 2: Complete project proposal submission

If you’ve received a positive result from step 1, you may proceed with completing and submitting the project proposal template. Use the same project number provided in step 1 when completing this template so both documents are linked. In this case, you don’t need to resubmit the application form, as we received it in the expression of interest step.

If you’ve chosen to skip step 1, you must complete and submit both the application form and project proposal template.

Complete project proposals must be emailed to your regional program coordinator.

How long it will take to process your application

For complete project proposal submissions, a decision on funding will be provided within 90 business days of the receipt of all documentation supporting your proposal.

Completion of a project proposal doesn’t guarantee that all, or part, of the project will be financially supported. This determination will be made based on a review of the project’s:

  • eligibility
  • support for program goals and objectives
  • available funding within the program
