Fingerprinting requirement
If you have been asked to submit your fingerprints for security screening purposes, you can arrange to have them taken by any of the following service providers. Please note that fees may apply.

What to bring
- Bring the letter along with two pieces of identification, issued by a provincial, territorial or federal government. At least one of the identifications must contain a photo (e.g. driver’s licence, health card).
Getting your fingerprints taken
- Present the letter along with the two valid pieces of identification to the person who will be taking your fingerprints.
- Fingerprints can be taken with ink or electronically. Once taken, you must send them by mail to the Departmental security office at the address indicated below (if taken with ink) or electronically (through your service provider)

You must retain your receipt and Document Control Number (DCN) for tracking purposes.
The information collected by Fisheries and Oceans Canada is in accordance with the Privacy Act Statement on your Personnel Screening, Consent and Authorization form.
Service Providers
You can have your fingerprints taken by one of the following service providers:
- Local police service
- Although most police centres provide this service, it is recommended that you confirm with your local police service prior to your arrival.
- Accredited fingerprinting companies

- DFO Personnel Security Services
- Individuals in the National Capital Region can have their fingerprints taken at 200 Kent Street, Ottawa, ON. For an appointment, please email:
