Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) recently sought public input in the Newfoundland and Labrador region on the following aquatic species at risk :
- Blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus)
- Nothern Wolffish, Spotted Wolffish, Atlantic Wolffish
- Grey Whale
- Atlantic cod (Laurentian North)
- Atlantic cod (NL)
- narwhal (special concern)
- fin whale (Atlantic population, special concern)
- beluga whale (Eastern Hudson Bay population, endangered)
- beluga whale (Ungava Bay population, endangered)
- porbeagle (endangered)
- bowhead whale (Davis Strait/Baffin Bay population, threatened).
- banded killifish
- harbour porpoise
