Activity Three - Wolffish

Educating Others

Materials Required:

  • Reference materials from the Species at Risk Education Kit
  • Library Books
  • Access to the Internet
  • Poster board
  • Pens, pencils, markers, crayons

Let's get started!

Part of protecting species at risk is creating awareness. Letting people know about the species, why they are at risk, and how we can help protect them is a critical part of protecting species. In this project you will develop educational posters.

Choose one of two audiences for your poster: children or fishermen

The poster should explain why wolffish need to be protected and what can be done to protect them by each audience.

When the posters are complete hang them in the classroom or school and discuss them in class.

Talk about it!

Consider your audience carefully when developing the poster:

  • What kind of language should you use when talking to children?
  • What kind of language should you use when talking to fishermen?
  • How can children help protect wolffish?
  • How can a poster help species at risk?
