Minister Ashfield Presents Small Craft Harbours Prix d’excellence to the Harbour Authority of Pointe-Basse and Pointe-Aux-Loups
Îles-de-la-Madeleine , Quebec – The Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, today presented the Harbour Authority of Pointe-Basse and Pointe-aux-Loups with a Small Craft Harbours Prix D’Excellence. Charles Poirier, President of the Harbour Authority of Pointe-Basse and Pointe-aux-Loups, accepted the award on behalf of the Harbour Authority at a ceremony at the newly reconstructed breakwater at the Pointe-Basse harbour.
“Our government is pleased to recognize members of the Harbour Authority of Pointe-Basse and Pointe-aux-Loups for their significant contribution to their harbours and the local community,” said Minister Ashfield. “The members of this group are outstanding examples of the many tireless volunteers who work so hard to manage fishing harbours across the country.”
The Harbour Authority of Pointe-Basse and Pointe-aux-Loups received this national award under the category of “Harbour Authority Achievement” for their efforts to repair and upgrade a fishing tackle warehouse to accommodate harbour administration offices, conference rooms and a storage space for fishers.
The Prix d’Excellence is awarded annually to celebrate the exemplary contributions made by harbour authorities in meeting the objectives of the Small Craft Harbours Program. The award recognizes teams and individuals who have made significant contributions to their harbours and their communities.
