Canadian Coast Guard Ship CCGS Des Groseilliers Heading to Canada's North Once Again
QUEBEC CITY - Tomorrow the Canadian Coast Guard Ship CCGS Pierre Radisson is setting off again for the Northern Canada Route, where she will be called on to maintain navigational aids, resupply northern communities, assist other ships and carry out scientific activities.
"The Canadian Coast Guard is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of the crew members of CCGS Pierre Radisson and the entire organization for their continued involvement in fulfilling our mandates in the Northern Canada and across Canada," said the Honourable Keith Ashfield, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.
The activities of the CCGS Pierre Radisson will take it to Hudson Bay, Ungava Bay and to Churchill, where it will participate in Operation Nanook 2012. In addition, from August 27 to September 2, the ship will support the ArcticNet Network of Centres of Excellence BaySys science mission. The CCGS Pierre Radisson is scheduled to return to Québec in early October 2012.
