New Brunswick Resident Fined for Illegally Fishing Lobster

MONCTON, New Brunswick – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Gulf Region, announced today that a resident of New Brunswick has been fined $3,000 by Judge John C. Friel for violations under the Fisheries Act.
Russell Mitchell of Esgenoôpetitj pleaded guilty to fishing lobster when the fishery was closed.
Conservation measures exist to protect and rebuild fish stocks so that fish resources are sustainable for generations to come.
