Convictions Under the Fisheries Act

QUÉBEC – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region, has released a list of Magdalen Islands Area fishers fined by Judge Henri-Rosaire Desbiens on December 9, 2010, for various violationsof the Fisheries Act.

The total amount of the fines imposed on the fishers is $5,250. The offenders are:

Failure to palpate a seal’s cranium to confirm that it has been crushed. $500
