Convictions Under the Fisheries Act

QUÉBEC – Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Quebec Region, has released a list of North Shore Area fishers fined by Judge Louise Gallant in September 2009 for various violationsof the Fisheries Act.

The total amount of the fines imposed on the fishers is $1,500. The offenders are:

Offender and home	Offence	Fine
Marc Desbiens Patrice Desbiens Dave Tremblay (Forestville)	Exceeding the recreational softshell clam harvest limit.	$300 each
Éric Duchênes (Tadoussac)	Harvesting softshell clam in a closed area.	$600

The Department has a mandate to protect and conserve fishery resources and is ever vigilant in its efforts to prevent poaching of marine resources.
