Bedford Institute of Oceanography Library, Dartmouth NS
St. Andrews Biological Station Library
The Library at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO) is home to one of Canada's foremost collections in marine science. We have books, journals and government documents about oceanography, marine biology, marine geology and nautical science. The Library also houses the BIO Archives, a collection of BIO records with historical research value for the Institute.
Members of the public are welcome to use library resources on site, and can also access the full text of many publications from WAVES, the DFO Libraries' online catalogue. The Library does not loan directly to individuals; the general public may borrow our materials through their university, public or corporate library.
The full range of library services is available to people working at BIO: DFO employees may access more services on the DFO Intranet, and employees of the Geological Survey of Canada may find more services on the Natural Resources Canada Intranet.

The St. Andrews Biological Station (SABS) Library for Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Maritimes Region is located in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. For a century now the Library has provided current and accurate resources to scientists and researchers at SABS. Building collections for the changing trends, themes and mandates of public marine science over this extensive time period has lead to the library developing a real 'gem' of a marine science collection.
Today the SABS library supports the ongoing research activities of the Biological Station through collections in the areas of aquaculture, marine biology, ocean sciences, environmental sciences, environmental chemistry and toxicology and population ecology.
Members of the public may use library resources on site, and can also access the full text of many publications from WAVES, the DFO library online catalogue. Most of our collection is also available via Interlibary Loan.
People working at SABS have access to all library services; as well DFO employees may access even more services on the DFO Intranet.
