What you need to submit for a project review

There is specific information that is used by DFO staff to assess your project proposal for negative effects. Your project proposal will be evaluated to determine whether additional measures are needed to avoid negative impacts or an authorization is required.

How do I submit a project proposal for review?

In order to initiate a review of your development proposal, please complete the following form: Request for Review under the Fish Habitat Protection Provisions of the Fisheries Act.

Please direct your project proposal to your local DFO Habitat Management office.

Will I need other approvals for my project?

You are required to respect all municipal, provincial, territorial or federal legislation that applies to the work being carried out in relation to your proposed development. In the event that you are working in a province where there is joint referral process between provincial agencies and Fisheries and Oceans Canada, you are also encouraged to contact the province with your proposed development plans.
