Dr. Mike Hammill, Research Scientist, Fisheries and Oceans Canada – When killing the animal, the hunter should use the three step process. If we are to use a hakapic for an example, after hitting the animal on the head, the hunter should immediately verify that the cranium has been crushed, or the skull has been crushed, and the animal should be bled as soon as possible for one minute.
