DFO server maintenance May 14-15, 2011

The Fisheries Certificate System will be unavailable Saturday, May 14th at 12:00PM to Sunday, May 15th 12:00PM EST. This outage is necessary for maintenance on departmental servers and will affect internet access. If you are planning to apply for a catch certificate this Saturday, we encourage you to apply before or after this maintenance window. The Catch Certification Office will maintain e-mail service for urgent inquiries. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

EU directive regarding the inclusion of transport and import details

The European Union has requested that all transport and import information be included in applications for catch certificates, for validation by the Competent Authority of each country. Therefore, the CCO will now require that this information be included prior to the approval of any application.

Client satisfaction survey

We will soon be launching a Client Satisfaction Survey to all FCS users. The launch will take place on May 9, 2011 and will be available to you for a period of 2 weeks. The purpose of this survey will be to gauge what we do well at the Catch Certification Office as well as what we can improve on. We encourage all of you to take part in this survey and be as honest as possible so that we can make necessary changes to address your concerns. It will be deployed in an electronic format. You will be receiving an e-mail from CRG, which is an external consulting firm that will help us with the survey. Your responses are confidential and will only be used to gauge our performance. We look forward to your participation in this survey.

EU directive regarding number of vessels on a standard catch certificate

The European Union issued a new directive in the certification process. In order to ensure catch data is accurate, we are now required to ask that only one vessel be included per catch certificate in order to track product weight by individual vessel.

The Catch Certification Audit Office (CCAO)

The European Union (EU) requires exporting countries to have an audit process in place to confirm the accuracy of the information provided in the certificate application. This audit process has been identified as a Fisheries and Oceans Conservation and Protection program role and is now identified as the “Catch Certification Audit Office” (CCAO).

The Catch Certification Audit Office will be available at 1-866-733-6676 starting May 16th to provide support during an audit process or to answer any questions you may have. The CCAO will also have information available on the new CCP website.
