Total Allowable Catches and Sharing Arrangements

The Total Allowable Catch (TAC) has been set at 160 t for the 2012 fishery with quotas for the Sub areas A through E. The TAC is shared between the 164 licence holders in the SFA 29 West Quota Group based on an established percentage share for each licence.

Management Measures

The fishery is managed with an overall TAC, Subarea caps, blended meat count of 33 scallops /500g, and minimum size restriction of 100 mm shell height.

At sea observer coverage is one day per active vessel.

Vessel Monitoring Systems are required and must be polling at 15 minute intervals for this fishery.

A minimum permanent quota share of 0.49% is required on the scallop licence to be eligible to participate in the fishery.
Annual quota transfers will also be authorized between the licences in the SFA 29 West Quota Group.

A quota reconciliation process is used to rationalize quota overruns to zero.
