Management Measures

The 2010 Conservation Harvesting Plan for 4RS3Pn Cod for this fleet is available at the Sept-Îles DFO office. It contains the main management measures among which are a few changes introduced in 2010, in particular:

  • A weekly catch limit reduction as indicated in the CHP is in force from Sunday to the following Saturday and is set at 1323 kg (2917 lbs) head-on gutted (HOG) or 1588 kg (3500 lbs) round weight;
  • An increase in the number of nets in the area near Blanc-Sablon for the partnership agreement from 9 to 12 nets;
  • The possibility of increasing fishing effort in the month of August if the landings are rather modest and that participation is low;
  • The minimum size for Atlantic Halibut has been increased from 81 cm to 85 cm.

DFO will undertake the implementation of the quota reconciliation in 2010. If there is a quota overrun during the 2010 season it will be deducted from next year's quota by a factor of one-to-one.

Authorized Cod fish harvesters will obtain their valid Licence conditions starting June 22nd, 2010 from the DFO offices in Sept-Iles or Blanc-Sablon where staff management of the Resource Department will be present.
