Number of licences :
64 licences
Minimum size :
The minimum legal size is a length of 70 mm.
Number and volume of traps :
The maximum number of traps allowed is of 100 traps per fish harvester, with a maximum external volume of 0.3 m3 (10.6 feet3).
Tagging :
Each trap must bear a valid tag obtained from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO).
Log book :
Log book is obligatory. When there are fishing activities, log book duly completed must be send to the DFO Office in Sept-Iles every week.
Incidental catches :
Incidental catches cannot be retained.
Attrition :
The licences not renewed in 2009 will not be reissued in 2010.
Species at risk Act :
Pursuant to the Species at Risk Act (SARA), all by-catches of spotted wolffish, northern wolffish and leatherback Turtle must be returned to the water and released in the same location they were caught and, if the fish is still alive, with as little harm as possible. Moreover, information regarding interactions with species at risk must be provided in the Species at risk section of the logbook.
Licence conditions :
A two working days deadline is necessary for the emission of the licence conditions.
