Species and Area

Duck Island Sound (DIS) is located within the Grand Manan Islands in New Brunswick in a portion of Scallop Fishing Area 28B also referred to as Scallop Production Area 6.

Dates of season (subject to change)

Duck Island Sound will be open for scallop fishing Monday to Friday 0600 hours to 1800 hours each day from March 10, 2010 to March 31, 2010.

Total Allowable Catches and Sharing Arrangements

An overall quota for SPA 6 is shared 15% Full Bay and 85% for Mid Bay. Landings from Duck Island Sound are managed within the fleet quotas for SPA 6.

Management Measures

The Bay of Fundy Full Bay and Mid Bay scallop fleets have access to fish scallops in Duck Island Sound. Duck Island Sound will be managed as part of the Grand Manan Conservation Zone (SPA 6B) within Scallop Production Area 6. There is an overall quota for SPA 6 shared between the Full bay and Mid Bay and a blended meat count of 45 scallops /500g.
