Background

Topics to be reviewed: 1) Fraser sockeye and pink abundance forecasts for 2009; 2) the process and methods for estimating commercial salmon fishery catches for the period 1996-2004.  Fraser sockeye and pink forecasts are provided annually for fishery planning purposes.  Salmon stock assessment has led a regional process to develop finalized catch estimates for commercial salmon fishing in the Pacific Region.  The purpose is to produce an updated and defensible set of catch estimates for the Pacific region and provide recommendations for future catch estimation.

Objectives

Peer review the draft working papers: 

  1. Fraser sockeye and pink abundance forecasts for 2009;
  2. Proposed revisions to the commercial salmon catch estimates for 1996-2004.
  3. Provide abundance Fraser sockeye and pink abundance forecasts based on PSARC approved method
