Chairperson: C. Cyr
Rapporteur: S. Dubé

Summary

A regional science meeting on the recovery potential of the St. Lawrence Atlantic sturgeon population was held in Québec City on February 21, 2012. The advisory meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministère des Ressources naturelles et de la Faune du Québec (MRNF), the Ministère de l'Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l'Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ), AECOM and Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO). The purpose of the meeting was to develop a Science Advisory Report on the recovery potential of the St. Lawrence Atlantic sturgeon population, taking into account the steps of the recovery potential assessment framework developed by DFO. The advisory report will orient the recovery process undertaken under the Canadian Species at Risk Act (SARA) for the St. Lawrence Atlantic sturgeon population, which has been designated "threatened" by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC). These Proceedings summarize the major points of discussion from the meeting and outline the main recommendations and conclusions.
