Application for Licence


Types of licences, permits or applications used for the transfer of fish are:

Form A: 

Licence is annually issued to all holders of a Ministry of Fisheries Aquaculture Licence for salmonids, conditional to:

  1. Aquaculture licence is issued under Section 13 (4.1) of the Fisheries Act (B.C.)
  2. Satisfactory health status, including lack of clinical signs of disease
  3. No emergency diseases having been identified in the stock to be transferred
  4. The fish or eggs are to be transferred within the same zone.

British Columbia Transfer Zone Map

The nine zones recognised within British Columbia are:

  • Zone 1 - Trans Boundary
  • Zone 2 - Liard
  • Zone 3 - Peace
  • Zone 4 - Skeena
  • Zone 5 - Central Coast
  • Zone 6 - Queen Charlotte Islands
  • Zone 7 - Southern Coast
  • Zone 8 - Fraser
  • Zone 9 - Columbia

Form B: 

Is required for all other transfer requests. Such applications are reviewed by the committee on an individual basis and, if approved, a Form B licence will be issued.
